Amazon Prime Day 2024_Supplied_1800x1000

Amazon Prime Day is returning in mid July - here's how to land the best bargains.

If you missed out on the End Of Financial Year sales, don't fret - a new major shopping event is about to kick off.

From 16 July to 21 July, Amazon Prime Day will be running in Australia. Over 6 bargain-packed days, Prime customers can score huge discounts across all categories, including tech, gaming, fashion, beauty and homeware.

It's by far the biggest sales event on Amazon's sales calendar (and that includes Black Friday.)

If you've never shopped the sale before, here's what you need to know.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?

Amazon Prime Day is set to take place for nearly a full week starting on 16 July.

The specific dates and times for the sale are as follows:

12AM AEST 16 July - 11:59PM AEST 21 July.

This is a significant expansion on previous years which were limited to 2 days of deals.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

During Amazon Prime Day, exclusive discounts are made available to Amazon Prime subscribers across the entire website. Frequently, these prices reach all-time lows for various products.

It is essentially Amazon's answer to Black Friday, with most retailers and brands actively participating in the sale via their official Amazon stores.

How do I get the best deals?

To fully participate in Amazon Prime Day, you'll need an Amazon Prime membership. If you haven't done so already, now is a great time to get a free 30-day trial.

That way, you will be able to participate in the sale without paying anything extra.

What kind of deals can you expect to see?

In previous years, popular tech brands such as Nintendo, Lenovo, Philips, Samsung and Nikon have seen their products available at greatly reduced prices.

We predict there will be a price-cut for the Meta Quest VR headset this year but nothing is confirmed yet.

Amazon's own products, such as Echo smart speakers, Kindle e-readers and Fire TV Stick streaming devices are also likely to receive significant discounts.

If past sales are anything to go by, you can also expect discounts of up to 40% on leading shoe brands including Nike, Vans and New Balance.

Confirmed brands that will be available during Amazon Prime Day 2024 include the following:

  • Apple
  • Bose
  • Bonds
  • de'Longhi
  • Dyson
  • Finish
  • Instant Pot
  • Lego
  • Meta
  • Miele
  • Panasonic
  • Philips
  • Quilton
  • Samsonite
  • Samsung
  • Sony
  • The North Face
  • Tommy Hilfiger

Other items Amazon has revealed as part of the sale include sneakers, Korean beauty products, air fryers, kitchen mixers, table décor, craft supplies and DIY kits and pantry essentials.

No matter what product category you've had your eye on, chances are it will be available at Amazon Prime Day.

What is Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime is a premium membership to the Amazon marketplace that provides a wide range of perks and benefits, including:

An Amazon Prime subscription in Australia costs $9.99 per month. There is also a 12-month subscription available which costs $79 a year which works out to a saving of around $40.

The service is significantly more expensive in the USA where customers pay US$139 per year - the equivalent of $AUD208.
