Beauty product of the week: Dermalogica Skin Resurfacing Cleanser

A cure-all cleanser that can banish blemishes, congestion, dullness, breakouts and reduce fine lines.
Why we love this product
With all the new makeup and skincare products released in a constant stream into the Australian market, it's easy to forget about those hero products that have been around for a few years. Especially when your job involves testing all the newest releases on a weekly basis.
But recently, when cleaning out my personal beauty cupboard, I rediscovered one of my favourite cleansers – the Dermalogica Skin Resurfacing Cleanser. I've written previously about how Cetaphil is my go-to face wash for keeping my skin in good condition. But what about when my skin is in bad condition?
I have a pretty good relationship with my skin. At last, I feel I have a reasonable understanding of what my skin is like and what my skin wants. But sometimes my face decides not to cooperate. Even though I am well beyond my teenage years, my complexion still decides to throw me a curve ball and dish out the odd bout of hormonal breakouts, blackheads and rough, totally congested skin.
And the Dermalogica Skin Resurfacing Cleanser is my answer to those bad skin problems. Blackhead ridden skin? Dull skin? Rough skin? Flaky skin? This is the solution.
So how does it work? Well, this cleanser contains a lactic acid concentrate, which erodes any dead skin, oil, dirt and surface debris on your face. Lactic acid is one of the gentler peeling acids (or AHAs) so you can use this even on sensitive skin – just don't get any in your eyes, it really stings! Essentially, it works like a light chemical exfoliant that leaves you with nothing but clean, fresh and rejuvenated skin.
This particular product is marketed as an anti-ageing product, since acids like lactic acid are known to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and help to fade dark spots. But lactic acid and other AHAs are also the key ingredients in products for congested skin, hormonal skin, dull skin and rough skin. So it works wonderfully for a variety of different issues.
This is my go-to, fix everything product. Try it and you'll see what I mean.
Affordability
The RRP for this cleanser is $65, so it's a bit pricier than other products on the market. But I obviously think it's worth it, plus most online stores sell it for cheaper than $65.
Where to buy?
You can buy Dermalogica products at Dermalogica online or stores like eBay. But my favourite places to buy Dermalogica are Adore Beauty, and ry.com.au. Each of these stores sells the cleanser for less than $60 – has it for just $52.
