CUPRA has announced not one, but two new models that are sure to turn heads.

Whether you're a fan of cutting-edge electric vehicles or just looking for a great deal on a stylish SUV, CUPRA's latest offerings could have you covered.

The Spanish brand now boasts an all-electric SUV in the form of the CUPRA Tavascan, which will sit as only the second EV in their lineup, along with the Born.

The inspiration for the brand's name is Tavascan, an old, picturesque town in Catalunya, but don't be deceived; this is a new car for a new era and set to arrive in the latter part of 2024.

Punchy electric powertrains

Underneath its avant-garde exterior lies a powerful electric heart. The Tavascan offers two powertrain options.

  • The dual-motor setup delivers a robust 250 kW, providing exhilarating performance for those who crave power and speed.
  • The single-motor variant offers a still impressive 210 kW, ideal for everyday efficiency without compromising on the thrill of driving.

With this sort of output, the CUPRA Tavascan promises to deliver not just on the eco-friendly front but also with a performance punch that's more Muhammad Ali than Greta Thunberg.

Pricing for the Tavascan is yet to be announced.

A more budget-friendly CUPRA Ateca

But before we get too carried away with the new Tavascan, CUPRA has announced a new model in the Ateca line-up that has a more wallet-friendly pricetag. The new CUPRA Ateca V can be yours with change from 50 grand, with pricing from $49,888 driveaway.

The Ateca V gets a generous serving of features too. It includes:

  • 9.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Satellite navigation and wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto
  • 19" black and silver alloy wheels
  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated front seats
  • Wireless phone charging
  • A tonne of safety systems like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring and more)

With its spacious interior and 485L of boot space, it's designed to handle school runs, grocery shopping, and weekend getaways.

What's under the bonnet of the CUPRA Ateca V?

The CUPRA Ateca V comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine pushing out a respectable 140 kW and 320 Nm of torque.

But I'd be remiss to mention that if you need more power, there's the higher-end Ateca VZx.

The VZx comes with the same 2.0-litre turbo engine but tuned to deliver a thrilling 221 kW and 400 Nm of torque, making it a contender to keep up with the Tavascan's electrifying performance.

Something for everyone

So, there you have it. CUPRA is giving Australia not just one, but two new vehicles.

Whether you're after the futuristic fantasy of the Tavascan or liked the Ateca but you're willing to part with the better part of 60 grand, you now have the Ateca V from a more reasonable $49,888 drive away.
