Apple TV Plus is a subscription streaming service that is the home of Apple Originals. It launched in November 2019.
Apple TV Plus aims to be a genuine rival to Netflix, offering on-demand and exclusive series and movies from some of the world's best storytellers.
It shares many similarities with the Netflix premium service, including 4K video and Dolby Atmos audio on most content. Like on Netflix, content can be downloaded for offline use.
Here is everything you need to know about the streaming service before deciding whether or not to tune in.
How much does Apple TV Plus cost?
Monthly pricing for Apple TV Plus sits at $12.99. There are no pricing tiers like on some streaming services so the $12.99 is all you'll pay for full access to Apple TV Plus content at the highest resolution. The service increased its price in October 2023.
Apple also offers a 7-day free trial for all new subscribers. If you buy a new (eligible) Apple product, it will come with 3 months of Apple TV Plus for free.
There's also the option to add the streaming service in a bundle via Apple One. The price varies between $24.95 a month and $49.95 a month depending on how many other Apple services you're looking to bundle. Regardless of which bundle you choose, Apple TV Plus is included. You will save money via a bundle when you factor in the price of paying for the services individually.
If you go down this route, you can also get a 30-day free trial instead of the usual week-long offer. You can learn more about Apple One in our guide.
The service also allows you to watch premiere episodes of certain series for free, which is another way to try before you buy.
You can share an Apple TV Plus subscription with up to 5 family members users and the ability to stream on 6 devices simultaneously.

What can I watch on Apple TV Plus?
One of the big pluses of Apple TV, pun intended, is that all content is exclusive and new. The shows have impressive budgets and big stars attached. It may have a smaller library of content than some of the other high-profile streaming services, but you know you'll be getting quality over quantity.
There's the wildly successful comedy Ted Lasso, plus Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon in Morning Wars, which takes aim at sexism and inequality in a US morning show studio. Critically acclaimed sci-fi drama Severance is present too.
The service features original movies such as The Greatest Beer Run Ever, Greyhound and Oscar winner CODA.
You can watch Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Alfre Woodard (Luke Cage) in dystopian sci-fi drama See while Kumail Nanjiani's (The Big Sick) anthology Little America is an absolute delight. There's alternative space race drama For All Mankind too.
Other popular series include Black Bird, Shantaram, The Afterparty, Defending Jacob, Schmigadoon!, Foundation, Dickinson and Physical.
Docu-series and kids' shows are streaming on the platform as well.
Apple TV Plus has dipped its toe in sports broadcasting, airing Friday Night Baseball during the regular Major League Baseball season.
