Optus Sport is a robust contender in the sports streaming game, especially for football fans. The platform offers coverage of the most popular football competitions and allows subscribers to enjoy live streams of all matches of the current English Premier League, all through a stylish app.
You don't need to be an Optus customer to get access to the service, as it is available to everyone as a standalone service. Just head on over to the Optus Sport website to get started.
What content does Optus Sport offer for free?
Optus Sport used to offer a free 14-day trial, which is sadly no longer available. Optus customers also used to be available to access Optus Sport for free, but that was discontinued as of August 2022. You can, however, create an Optus Sport account for free and access a limited range of content including football highlights and Optus Sport Fitness. Live matches and other content ultimately require a paid subscription.
Occasionally, Optus Sport does showcase live games for free, such as the 2022 Women's FA Cup final and the UEFA Women's Euro Final, but they occur infrequently.
How much does Optus Sport cost?
An Optus Sport subscription costs $24.99 a month and it's available once you sign up with the app or via the website.
From then on, you will be able to stream every English Premier League match live.
At the same time, Optus Sport is also the official broadcaster of UEFA Nations League, La Liga, FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 and UEFA Euro 2024. Selected matches are available on-demand and you can also watch mini-match highlights, ideal for when you need to catch up with your favourite competitions.
What do I need to stream Optus Sport?
Subscribers can watch on the big screen via select Samsung and LG smart TVs, Xbox, PlayStation 4, Fetch TV, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV or Chromecast as well as tune in with a computer.
The Optus Sport subscription is available to all Australian residents via the App Store or Google Play and will last you for a month. There are no-lock-in contracts involved, so you can cancel anytime. If you're already an Optus customer, you can access Optus Sport for $6.99 a month and your subscription will be via Optus SubHub.
More streaming free trials
The free access to Optus Sport won't do much to satisfy the sportier streamers out there, but there is a whole range of free trials available for streaming services in Australia. You can compare these in the table below.
