Although the rights to watch sports can usually be scattered across the TV and streaming landscape, Kayo has positioned itself as the place to watch most sports in Australia all in one place.
Some of the biggest sports in both Australia and from overseas are available to stream live on the service, but live sports streaming isn't the only attraction as it contains replays, documentaries, highlight packages, talk shows and more.

Stream Kayo FREE for 7 days
Take Kayo Sports for a spin and stream over 50 sports live, plus get 15,000+ hours of on-demand archives.
There are 2 paid plans for Kayo. There is the One package that costs $25 a month and allows you to watch on only 1 device at once. The Basic plan is $35 a month and allows you to stream on 2 devices simultaneously. There previously was a Premium plan, but as of 16 January 2024 this was discontinued.
That means the only difference between the paid plans is how many simultaneous streams you can have. Otherwise, all the plans stream in the same quality, allow access to the same number of sports and are compatible with the same range of devices.
Kayo price rise
Kayo is getting another price rise. From 14 February 2024, Kayo Basic will be increasing to $35 a month and will have 4K capability. Existing Kayo Premium subscribers will be moved onto a Basic plan. There is no change to the Kayo One subscription.
Kayo claims to have over 50 different sports on the service. There is a varied mix including big Australian sports such as NRL, AFL and cricket through to overseas sporting leagues such as the NBA and NFL, plus big events like the FIBA World Cup.
There are however some major sports that Kayo doesn't feature, like tennis and rugby union. We have a full list of sports available on Kayo if you want to delve deeper into what's on offer.
What is Kayo Freebies?
Kayo Freebies allows you to access a limited selection of live sport, replays, entertainment shows and documentaries on the service at no cost. While you don't get access to all the content with the Kayo Freebies experience, it does give you access to the full suite of Kayo's features. What is available as a freebie is limited though and there's no personal choice as to which sports or events you can watch for free.

Signing up to Kayo Freebies does not require any credit card info to be added. You simply sign up for an account, download the app or log in to the website and then begin watching.
How can I watch Kayo?
Kayo is available on smartphones (iOS and Android), Mac and PC. It also has Telstra TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV and Chromecast compatibility. The only video game consoles available to view Kayo are either PlayStation 4 or 5. You can also watch Kayo on a compatible smart TV.
What TVs are compatible with Kayo?
Watching sport on the big screen is a preferred choice for most viewers and luckily Kayo has you covered there with its app available on selected models from:
The user interface of Kayo has a very Netflix feel, not displaying a classic channel-by-channel listing but a mix of all the available sports live and on replay at any given time as best fits your viewing history. There are plenty of features on offer with Kayo, some specially tailored for sports viewing. These include:
No Spoilers – a feature any rabid sports fan will appreciate. If you're late to the game, Kayo will allow you to hide all scores and news from your user interface so you can enjoy the stream without knowing how it all ends.
Key Moments – the stream's timeline will be marked with "key moments" as the action happens. So if you say hop in 15 minutes after kick-off, the video's progress bar will let you skip to the key moments you missed (e.g. goals kicked, tries scored, wickets taken) before catching up with the rest of the crowd.
From Start – another good feature is if you're late to a game, you can watch a live broadcast from the start.
SplitView – allows the viewing of up to 4 different sports at once. This is a great feature as a lot of sports can clash (especially on weekends). On mobile, Kayo allows you to stream 2 different sports in split-screen mode.
Kayo Minis – if you want to view a replay of a game but don't have the time to sit through its entire length, you can watch a condensed version of the match in only a fraction of the time.

There are 2 ways. The first is to visit https://auth.streamotion.com.au/activate on a second device and follow the prompts to get a code, then sign in with your credentials. The second way is some devices enable activation via scanning a QR code which will appear on your screen. It then takes you through steps to enter a code, signing in with your credentials and then you should be ready to go.
All you need to sign up to Kayo is an email address, password and eligible payment method, usually a credit card. Once you've completed the sign-up process, simply open the app or head to the website and sign in using the email address and password you provided at registration.
As Kayo no longer offers a free trial, the only way to watch Kayo for free is via Kayo Freebies. This allows you to access certain events and programs for free. The only drawback with this is that only select events are available on Kayo Freebies and you can't choose what to access for no cost.
Based solely on price, Kayo works out to be cheaper. Prices to Kayo start at $25 a month. To watch sport on Foxtel Now, you need to have the Sport pack, which totals $54 a month, while sport on Foxtel iQ is $77. The thing is both the Foxtel packs come with entertainment included while Kayo is a sport-only streaming service. The latest Foxtel iQ boxes also allow you to watch some sport in 4K. So there are many other things to consider beyond price to see which is right for you.
Yes, you are able to watch Main Event on Kayo for selected pay-per-view boxing and UFC events. This cost of these is not included as part of a regular Kayo subscription, you pay a one-off charge for each event on top of it. You don't even have to have a Kayo subscription to watch Main Event via Kayo, you can just purchase the event direct. For more information we've put together a how to watch Main Event on Kayo guide.
Kayo allows you to stream sport in HD.
Kayo introduced 4K on the 14 February 2024 on the likes of the NRL, AFL, F1, Super Netball and cricket will be available in 4K on a Kayo Basic subscription. This was passed onto the subscriber in a price increase.
How does the Kayo app compare?
Kayo Sports isn't the only sports streaming service out there. We've already compared what's available in Australia, including how Kayo stacks up against Optus Sport, Stan Sport and Foxtel Now.
You can also see at a glance how Kayo compares to even more sports streaming services out there such as DAZN, NBA League Pass and more in the table below.

findershopping.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stand by our editorial principles.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
Please read our website terms of use and privacy policy for more information about our services and our approach to privacy.
We update our data regularly, but information can change between updates. Confirm details with the provider you're interested in before making a decision.
