Based on the classic book of the same name, Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian drama depicting a bleak future where history is rewritten and “firemen” burn books.

Michael B Jordan plays Guy Montag, a firefighter who goes about his duties without questioning authority. However, all this changes when an unexpected incident makes him challenge his convictions. He ends up stealing a book for himself, which leads him to cross paths with a woman who might be part of the underground resistance of book lovers. The movie also stars Michael Shannon, Sofia Boutella, Lilly Singh, Grace Lynn Kung, Andy McQueen and Martin Donovan.

In a time when fake news spreads like wildfire, it’s safe to say that an updated adaptation of the classic novel was needed. The HBO film is well acted and mesmerizing, highlighting how important cherishing and accumulating knowledge is in today’s ever-changing modern world. The adaptation also wins bonus points for including a social media angle.
