How to watch 2023 US Open tennis live online in Australia

The final grand slam tournament of the tennis season is here. Here's how to watch the US Open live.

If you're a tennis fan you can watch the big names hit the court for the 2023 US Open.

Respective women's and men's world number 1 players Iga Świątek and Carlos Alcaraz are the top ranked seeds for the 2023 event. They are also the defending champions after winning the title in 2022.

There will be plenty of Aussies in action too for the 2023 tournament. This includes Alex de Minaur, Jordan Thompson and Thanasi Kokkinakis in the men's draw and Ajla Tomljanović and former US Open 2010 girls' singles champion Daria Saville in the women's draw.

How to watch or live stream the US Open tennis in Australia

The 2023 US Open tennis runs from Tuesday 29 August to Monday 11 September (AEST) at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.

There are 2 ways to watch the 2023 US Open tennis, via paid subscription service Stan Sport or for free via the 9 Network.

Because of the time difference between the US and Australia, it will run in the early morning AEST.

There will be limited US Open tennis coverage on the 9 Network and it will mostly screen on the TV channel 9Gem.

You can also stream the 9 Network's coverage via 9Now. All you need to do is register a Nine account to watch the US Open live for free and view highlights on demand.

The main caveat with the coverage on the 9 Network is that you will have no input into what matches you get to watch. The coverage on the 9 Network will also features ads.

For complete coverage of the US Open tennis though, you will need access to Stan Sport.

The sports streaming service has every match live, on-demand and ad-free. Matches on centre court will be in 4K.

Stan Sport is an additional $15 a month add-on to a normal Stan subscription. So the cheapest way to watch the US Open on Stan Sport will be $27 a month. Stan Sport also doesn't have a free trial, so if you're new to the service, you'll be paying straight away after signing up.

While Stan Sport and the 9 Network screen the US Open and the other grand slam tournaments, you can watch plenty of world-class tennis action elsewhere all year round.
