Told in 3 parts, this British series recounts the rise and fall of MP John Stonehouse.

Back in the 70s, Stonehouse's seemingly perfect life unravels amid rumours of espionage. He makes the decision to fake his own death and runs away with his secretary, leaving his wife and children behind. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't excel at doing crime.

Anchored by a brilliant performance from Matthew Macfadyen, Stonehouse makes for entertaining telly, especially if you're into period dramas. It helps that the story at its centre is as outrageous as real life gets.
