A reimagining of the classic series Prisoner, Wentworth amps up the violence without sacrificing character depth.
The acclaimed drama explores the challenges inmates and officers face in an all-female prison. It kicks off as Bea Smith is locked up while awaiting trial for the attempted murder of her husband. Starting at the bottom of Wentworth's hierarchy, she has to figure out how to survive behind bars.
Gritty but compelling, the series keeps viewers on the edges of their seats, increasing the intensity with each episode. The show also offers some terrific performances, which is always a plus. Once you enter Wentworth, you might not want to leave.
When did Wentworth Season 8 part 2 come out?
Season 8 of Wentworth was broken up into 2 parts. The first 10 episodes launched in 2020, with the second instalment coming on 24 August 2021. Dubbed The Final Sentence, it marked the final 10 episodes of the epic drama. Rumour has it that it's packed with action and tension as old scores are finally settled among the prisoners and some fresh faces pop up.
The action picks up 3 weeks after the shivving of Allie, with her attacker still at large. Moreover, new inmate Judy Bryant (Vivienne Awosoga) turns out to be more dangerous than anyone thought. Not much else is known about the new episodes, so you'll need to tune in and see what goes on behind the gates of Wentworth Correctional Centre.
Wentworth: The Final Sentence premieres Tuesday 24 August at 8.30pm on Foxtel's Fox Showcase channel. It will consist of 10 episodes airing weekly. You can watch it with a Foxtel subscription live or on demand. Episodes will also be available to stream on Foxtel Now, which is currently offering a 10-day free trial.
