What is Zip Money?
Zip Money is a "book now pay later" service that is owned by Zip Co.
It lets you pay for large purchases of $1,000+ in instalments over time and is available wherever you see the symbol displayed.
How does Zip Money work?
You can sign up for Zip Money at the checkout and, if approved, will be able to make purchases instantly.
The service gives you online credit to make purchases. You can pay this back, interest-free, in 3, 6 or 12 monthly payments.
Your specific payment schedule depends on what you're approved for and on what the store or site allows.
Essentially, the service acts like a loan. If you fail to complete your purchase within the interest-free period your remaining balance will accrue interest at a standard annual percentage rate.
What fees are there?
- Interest: Zip Money offers 0% interest for the first 3 months. Beyond that any remaining balance will incur interest.
- Establishment fee: This varies from $0-99.
- Monthly account keeping fee: A $7.95 monthly account keeping fee applies. If your account balance is $0, no fee applies.
There is also a minimum monthly repayment of $10. Skip this and you may also be hit with late-payment fees or your account may be locked.
For more information, consult the terms and conditions.
Zip Co also offers Zip Pay which is dedicated to smaller purchases of under $1,000. This is typically not offered by hotels as bookings tend to run above this price point.
